The ending of this book is a bit of a mixed bag. We have Manny joining a gang, which doesn’t really seem like him—instead of trying to support his true friends or coax his big brother into getting a job, now he just cares about fitting in. And making out with girls, of course.
Why does Nardo get fired from his catering job? He lost one because he didn’t show up regularly and another because the boss hated him. Nardo says he liked the job as a busboy at a high-end catering service. He was fired when, acting on a dare, he pretended to be a guest and his boss found him dancing with a girl.
